How search engines and backlinks work ?

How search engines, backlinks and websites interact ? For a search engine to be successful it must provide the best possible search results above all else. Websites with correct coding, content, links, visitors and credibility are at the top. Search engines use spiders and algorithms to gather and sort through this information.

A website looks very different to a spider than it does to a human. Right click on this page and then select "View Page Source" and you will see this hub page the way a spiders see it. This is why ranking has nothing to do with website appearance; every site looks exactly the same to spider. It is important that code is keyword aligned and search engine friendly but that is not enough to rank well.

Did you know that; Every search engine has doctors, lawyers, mechanics, chefs, mom's, kids, singers and song writers that all work in an acre of cubicle’s. Google’s huge staff of inside experts determines where each site goes. NOT! Chances are no live person at a search engine will ever look at your site.

They use other websites to do this for them. Google assigns every website a page rank or PR. The scale is from 1 to10 with 10 being the highest. Page Rank is different than Page Placement; a PR4 site can be higher up the page than a PR9 site. How your site interacts with these high PR value sites determines your page placement.

Example; Dentist “A” has had a website for 10 years and has not added much since he had it built. They enjoy some good page placement for a dozen or so local search terms like anywhere dentist, dentist anywhere and children's dentist anywhere, etc., etc. Dentist “B” comes along and builds a similar website but links to everything Chamber of Commerce, Anywhere elementary, Baseball Park and California Association of Dentist. The new guy is going to rank higher, longevity and domain age are weak compared to strong backlinks.

This is how search engines use backlinks to determine placement. Google knows how many visitors they are sending to your site. They know how long they stayed and what they did there. If the only traffic a website gets is traffic Google sent it, not good. Websites need to bring people from outside sources, through links.

Where is everybody? Social Media Sites! I had a client that refused to advertise on FaceBook in any way shape or form. He insisted that there was no commercial intent on FaceBook, I agreed but still insisted he do something on that site. He still doesn’t get it.

A great way to lure people to your site is to write great content that will get read and hopefully passed around. Find forums of likeminded people and bring them home with you, you know what I mean. Create blogs and hubs like this one with links back to your site. You're not breaking any rules or spamming, it's more like pollination.

I hope this hub explains the importance of Backlinks-How search engines use them to determine page placement. The visionary genius that wrote this theory can put together a linking campaign for you that will be simple to follow. To start a daily regimen of adding links try my RankFast files.
